About Us

The cottage is a family holiday home and is over 100  years old. It has been restored and renovated sympathetically and in keeping with the traditional style of the area.

My Great Grandfather Tom O'Donnell was known as 'The Mister', he was a market gardener who grew fruit and vegetables and also kept bees, and I am told he used to sing on Radio Eirean, he was very well respected in the community and people still talk of him today. When my Grandfather 'The Mister' died in 1969, none of the family were living in Ireland and the cottage and land was sold.

Now 40 years later this cottage has come back to the descendants of my Great Grandfather who originally built the cottage. We hope you will be happy and comfortable here at 'The Mister's' and that you enjoy your stay and appreciate this rural untouched setting in the west coast of Ireland as we do.

Although Achill is a remote location in the west coast of Ireland you will find many things to do in the immediate area. From hillwalking and outdoor activities to fishing and angling, from golf, painting or horse-riding to cycling, surfing, windsurfing or scuba diving, your visit to Achill can be as active as you like. Or just relax with a coffee or a pint and a view of Achill's spectacular mountains, cliffs (Achill boasts the highest cliffs in Europe) and five Blue Flag beaches. It also has 2 mountains over 2000ft and is 57 square miles in total area.
